Wow, how the year flies by and what a year it has been.
The boat had it’s engines rebuilt this offseason, as well as some paint and other touch ups and is performing flawlessly. The fishing has been excellent this November with as many as 50 plus sailfish raises in a day for “Decisive’’ and up to 6 blue marlin raised in a day.
Here’s an idea of some of the action we have seen over the past weeks.

Mike O’Day, Bryan Daschner, Todd and John Tressler released 16 sails, a blue and striped marlin on the 17th of November for a slam, following it up with 21 sails and 2 big blues the very next day, raising 5 blues.

Not to be outdone, Jack Duvall of Texas, released 14 sails, a 500lb blue marlin and a striped Marlin for a single angler slam 3 days latter, and as many as 26 sail releases the day prior.

The bite has been as steady as can be…on the 29th we released 20 sails from 26 bites and 2 from 2 on blue marlin, both in the 300b range, one on 30b, the other on 50b pitch.

The big news is that on November 28th, Capt. Brad Philipps RELEASED his 30,000th career BILLFISH. Having logged over 1000 blue marlin releases, a couple hundred other combined species of marlin, a few swordfish and spearfish and over 28,000 sailfish releases. The vast majority of these fish have been caught on our 40ft Gamefishermen, ‘Decisive’, out of the Pacific Coast of Guatemala, with Guatemalan Billfishing Adventures. Brad is the first person in history to have reached this number of billfish releases and to do what nobody has ever done before is something very special and a magnificent milestone to have reached. Together with his long time mates on ‘Decisive', Kennedy Hernandez and Jhonny Garcia, they have accumulated close to 7000 combined fishing days off Guatemala alone! Karl Zierfuss, Bob Loughry and Hank Draper, of Maryland USA, where the lucky anglers aboard to share in the day and our 7 year old son, Darren, caught the 30,000th fish. From humble fishing beginnings in Africa this is a massive milestone to have accomplished. At age 44, Brad has spent the past 20 years as a full-time sportsfishing professional in many of the worlds hottest bill-fisheries, but has called Guatemala home for the past 16 seasons. He has released both Pacific and Atlantic grander marlin, with his biggest blue marlin to date being a 1254lb fish off Cape Verde. He has won TBF’s Release Captain of the year 16 out of the past 17 years, as well as stacking up many other awards and tournament wins.
