What 2016 left for us: Great news is that we have signed on our new safari lodge (Toro Safari Lodge) in South Africa, near Kruger Park, on a Big Five Reserve. It is going to be spectacular, put that on your list for a trip in the next year or two. A private lodge in wild Africa to share with our friends and clients!

We released 3,713 billfish for 2016…our Guatemalan fishery just gets better and better, there is quite simply no place like it!
Our top day aboard ‘Decisive’ saw us releasing 84 sails from 107 bites, another day going 4 from 4 on blues, one over 500 and another well over 600. We had 31 days where we released 40 plus sails, we released 281 sailfish on the fly for the year, and our anglers won a total of 10 TBF awards for the year, including top Overall Release Captain.

To my amazing crew, anglers and all those that support us and made this incredible year possible, what more can one say then a sincere heart felt THANK YOU, it’s been a year for the history books, and you have all played a massive part in it!
Here is the years breakdown…
3,602 Pacific Sailfish, 66 Pacific Blue Marlin and 3 Striped Marlin released aboard ‘Decisive’ off Guatemala.
3,671 Total billfish, in 155 days, averaging 24 releases per day.
42 Atlantic Blue Marlin released aboard ‘Hooker’, off Cape Verde. (Our best day in CV saw us releasing 7 blue marlin from 10 bites with 12 up, the biggest well over 800).

CONGRATULATIONS Caetlin O'Brien! The Billfish Foundation (TBF) is pleased to inform you that you are the Top Release Angler - Youth Division (13-15) for the 2016 International Tag & Release Competition.

Captain Brad Philipps is AGAIN awarded The Billfish Foundation Overall Release Captain of the Year, that is 17 years now! With 10 awards in total for his anglers!

Lisa Everett has won Top Overall Release Lady Angler for the 2016 International Tag and Release competition for the Billfish Foundation! This is her third time and this was the best year ever for her with 332 sailfish releases and 10 blue marlin!
